Are you struggling to locate yourself in the map of life’s expectations with its landscape of obligations, timelines of achievement, and routes for success? Are you stuck and don’t know which way to turn? I will be your companion on a journey to clarity and self-discovery, to confidence and feeling grounded.
Did you find yourself here because you feel lost, adrift in life? Are you enclosed by other people's expectations? Do the predictable pathways feel uninspiring? Are you stuck and don’t know which way to turn?
The Humanist Minister offers an alternative approach to exploring purpose and meaning. It is an experience that blends spiritual guidance, purpose coaching, and existential counseling to minister to you as a human. I will help you discern who you are, why you are, and which ways forward may be revealed.
Drawing from ancient wisdom and modern insights, the process is both an intuitive and intentional journey that will disorient, orient, and reorient. As maps can show more than just physical geographies, but also moods, memories and our personal mythologies, we will chart your realms of hope, fear, and longing, and guide your adventure beyond the boundaries of the known. We shall discover where you emerge, draw new courses, and create fresh realities. When you arrive, you can begin.
Our journey will venture something like this:
As your Humanist Minister, guiding and accompanying you on this journey, I will bring:
T. S. Eliot, from Little Gidding
I believe that we each are better together, discovering our own humanity by recognizing the humanity in others. I believe that authentic conversation awakens our human flourishing. I believe that we all have stories and we each yearn to be heard. I believe that in attending to each other we can discern meaning and purpose in our lives.
I am a British expat calling Omaha home since 2004. Formerly, a London-based lawyer and an Omaha brand consultant, in 2016 I founded Squishtalks, which designs and delivers conversational experiences that help people live better and work well. I am also co-founder of Gilbert + Chittenden, which helps organizations envision possibilities and realize their best futures.
For more than a decade I have engaged in the work of listening, questioning, and wondering, both for myself and as a companion to others seeking clarity of purpose in their life. My work with Squishtalks, Gilbert+Chittenden, and Lives Radio Show & Podcast have led me to the Humanist Ministry, where I dedicate myself to being an existential companion for those on a quest for personal meaning and purpose.
Inspired by Steinbeck’s Travels with Charley and by my move to America, my community projects have included a couple of 830 mile long conversations, which was a pilgrimage of listening to Nebraskans. I serve now on the board of the social justice nonprofit Nebraska Appleseed and previously was a Big Brother mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Midlands and served by Mayoral appointment on the Board of Trustees of Omaha Public Library.

In 2017, I created and host Lives Radio Show & Podcast, a weekly interview that tackles the big questions: What is a good life? Why are we here? How might we feel more connected? Through intimate conversations, fascinating guests share their spiritual, philosophical, artistic, and cultural approaches to exploring the wonders of our human experience.
Hosted by The Union for Contemporary Art, the Undesign the Redline exhibit, documenting housing discrimination in Omaha, created a space where truth-telling could flourish. Community members shared their testimony on how the legacy of Redlining has impacted their personal lived experiences.
As the conversationalist for the Wellness Council of America's 2017 Summit, I helped attendees get the most out of their Summit learning experience by:
In 2016 I was selected to speak at TEDxLincoln to share the deep, humbling insights drawn from my journey across Nebraska discovering the humanity of others. I have also been selected to speak at TEDxOmaha 2010 and TEDxBrownellTalbot 2016.
Among other numerous speaking engagements have been presentations at national SHRM Conferences, including to an audience of HR and People professionals at SHRM 2019 on the subject of loneliness.
As a humanist minister, I accompany people on their journey to seek meaning and purpose in their lives when they are feeling adrift.
